Moses Will Be Captain for New Mexico State Game
October 21, 2009 9:30 pm EST
Senior Offensive lineman Andrew Moses will be the designated captain for this week's game against the New Mexico State Aggies. Sometimes this is a great opportunity for these kids. Sometimes it is an indication there is no clear leader on the offensive side of the ball. The honorary captain will be Tim Anderson, from the 2002 National Championship team.

October 9, 2009 4:30 pm EST
The team announced that Senior Tight end Jake Ballard would be the offensive captain for the Wisconsin game. OSU continues it's practice of rotating a different player from the offensive side of the ball.
Saine Gets the Start
October 1, 2009 5:30 pm EST
Coach Tressel announced today that Brandon Saine would get the start at tailback this weekend as the Buckeyes travel to Bloomington to take on the Hoosiers. Tressel indicated that Herron was recovering from an ankle injury and was only 85% ready to play. Is it possible that it has anything to do with the fact that Saine is averaging 5.7 yards a carry while Herron is averaging 3.6?
Purdue Time Announced

Coleman Suspended For Hit in Illinois Game
September 28, 2009 5:00 pm EST
I find it hard to believe the Big Ten officials would review his hit late in the Illinois game and suspend Captain Kurt Coleman but that is just what they have done. Coleman was suspended for one game as the result of a helmet-to-helmet hit on Illinois backup quarterback Eddie McGee. McGee did not appear injured and Coleman was pulled out of the game by the OSU coaches, even though he was not ejected from the game.
After reviewing tape and consulting with the NCAA's national coordinator of officials Dave Parry, the conference decided to suspend Coleman for the Buckeyes' game Saturday at Indiana. This is consistent with the new NCAA rule for the 2009 season mandating a postgame video review by a conference following any flagrant personal fouls, specifically in regard to initiating helmet-to-helmet contact and targeting an opponent.
Illinois Injury Updates - New Mexico State Kick-off Announced
September 24, 2009 6:00 pm EST
According to Coach Tressel in the weekly press conference, the Buckeyes will be in pretty good shape physically. Jim Cordle will still be out and should not be available for 2-3 weeks. Jaamal Berry and Zach Domicone are still about a week away. Everyone else should be ready for kick-off Saturday.
Earle Bruce will be the Honorary Captain for the game Saturday. During the game, we will be recognizing the 1979 team that was one point from a possible National championship, which was coached by Bruce.
The kick-off for the New Mexico State game will be 12:00 noon.
Offensive Captain Named for Toledo
September 17, 2009 1:45 pm EST
Usually Bollman does not announce the 'weekly' offensive captain until Friday, but for some reason they shared the news on Thursday this week. With the coaches on a bit of a hot seat with the media this week, think this was planned? Think Coach Tressel did not want to once again on his weekly Thursday press conference say 'I don't know' when asked for a name today? For whatever reason, Tressel said that Bryant Browning would be the captain this week. Do they now give out Helmet Stickers for False Start penalties?

Ballard Captain for USC Game
September 11, 2009 9:15 pm EST
OSU has announced Jake Ballard will be the offensive captain for the Buckeyes game with USC. Here at Buckeye 50 we are just hoping his name is called more than just to go out for the opening coin toss.
Changes in the Line-up
September 8, 2009 6:00 pm EST
If you use the same players, will you get the same results? The Buckeyes obviously don't want the same results so they are making changes. Anderson Russell, who was well on his way of winning the "Marlon Kerner Secondary Award", will be moved to second team. Jermale Hines will get the start as the Trojans come to town to invade the 'Shoe. Coach Tressel also confirmed that Mike Adams will be sitting out the USC game. No explanation was provided, must of think it is part of a two-game suspension but we may never hear the real story.
Cordle Named Captain for the Navy Game
September 4, 2009 11:30 pm EST
OSU has announced that Jim Cordle will be the offensive captain for the Buckeyes opening game with Navy. The senior is expected to start at right tackle after playing center and left guard last year as the Buckeyes have redesigned their offensive line. Also announced, Phil Strickland, Mike Lanese and Greg Lushutka will be the Honorary captains. All three spent time serving in the Navy after playing for Ohio State.
