You Read It Here: What An NFL Player Is Saying About Jack Mewhort
October 27, 2013 9:00 AM

Fresh from the world of Twitter (so it must be true).  What former OSU star and NFL player LeCharles Bentley had to say about the play of Jack Mewhort

  • Jack Mewhort will be best pro T in this draft class. He won't get drafted like it, but he will be best T in group.
Mark it down...

2013 Week 8: Ohio State 63   Penn State 14
October 26, 2013 11:45 PM

Back in 1994 Penn State hammered the Buckeyes 63-14.  Tonight Ohio State got to return the treatment. Behind Braxton Miller and his 68 yards rushing and 252 yards passing, mix in Carlos Hyde and his 147 you have the makings of a dominate win.  The defense which has been abused all week by the media and all season by the opponents had their best showing yet.  If they can keep this up the rest of the year, the Buckeyes will have the balanced team the BCS will look for to make the a title contender.

Happy Birthday Ohio Stadium
October 7, 2013 8:00 PM

Happy 91st Birthday, Ohio Stadium.  It was on this day in 1922 that the grass of the 'Horseshoe' was trod for the first time.  The Buckeyes defeated Ohio Wesleyan 5-0 for its first win.

2013 Week 6: Ohio State 40   Northwestern 30
October 5, 2013 11:45 PM

The Buckeye win makes it 29 wins in the last 30 games against Northwestern (and let's not forget that one Wildcat victory was in overtime) and extends the nation's longest winning streak to 18 games.  This one may not help Ohio State in the all important polls but for now the name of the game is win and advance.  Carlos Hyde had a career day with 168 yards rushing and 38 yards receiving.  It all but covered up Braxton Miller's three turnovers and the fact that one touchdown was scored by special teams and another by the defense.  The win makes the scarlet & gray the first 6-0 squad in the country and the first mathematically bowl eligible team.

It will be an off week for the Buckeyes to prepare for the second half of the season, which begins against Iowa on the 19th.

Mark May Once Again Goes Out Of His Way To Zing Buckeye Fans
October 4, 2013 6:30 PM

Mark May is not the most popular name in Columbus, in fact some in Buckeye nation go straight from April to June on their calendars.  It will not help that earlier this year Mark tweeted: "Watching Walking Dead ....... pretty cool watch. They remind me of buckeye fans."

He did not pick OSU to beat Wisconsin but he is picking them over Northwestern.  That must have been hard for him to verbalize.

Guiton Gets Mention In Sports Illustrated
September 30, 2013 8:30 PM

How many back-up quarterbacks get recognized in major magazines. (Note: I give SI credit for being a major magazine because it has a circulation of 3,174,355, not because it is any good or even credible).

For that matter how many starting quarterbacks get mention.  Yet Ohio State back-up qb Kenny Guiton gets mention or his record breaking touchdown performance against Florida A&M.  Guiton threw 6 touchdowns, all in the first half.  Imagine if Meyer decided Ohio State needed style points and kept him in the entire game.

Miller Announced As Probable Starter For Wisconsin Game
September 25, 2013 5:00 PM

Multiple sources have reported and Urban Meyer has commented Braxton Miller is scheduled to return to the lineup Saturday against Wisconsin in the Big Ten opener for the Buckeyes.  It is very likely that Kenny Guiton will see some action, even if Miller is doing very well in his comeback from the knee injury he suffered in the opening drive of the San Diego State game.

It has also been announced when Ohio State comes out of the tunnel Saturday night, they will be wearing the uniforms and chrome helmets they wore during the 2012 Michigan victory.

2013 Week 4: Ohio State 76   Florida A&M 0
September 21, 2013 4:00 PM

Ohio State looked like a machine as they clicked off score after score.  It looked like a game of EA Sports NCAA Football 2014 being brought to life.  Kenny Guiton threw a record 6 TD's, and he did it all before halftime.  The Bucks only scored 21 points in the second half as they cleared the bench and only called rushing plays, cruising to a 76-0 victory.  It wasn't just about the offense though, the defense gave up only 2 first downs and 80 yards of total offense.  The Rattlers were simply no match .  They just came in for 60 minutes, picked up their $950,000 check and headed back to the Sunshine State.

At OSU basketball games if Matta and the boys score over 70 points we get free fries from McDonald's.  I did not see any ushers passing out the vouchers after the game.

2013 Week 3: Ohio State 52   California 34
September 14, 2013 11:30 PM

Kenny Guiton plays for the injured Braxton Miller and opens the game with the longest offensive play in OSU history.  It appears that OSU is in capable hands while Miller recovers from his MCL sprain. The Buckeyes go on to tame the nation's most explosive offense to secure the 52-34 victory over the Cal Bears.

2013 Week 2: Ohio State 42   San Diego State 7
September 7, 2013 8:00 PM

Braxton Miller went down on the first offensive drive of the game with an MCL sprain.  Fortunately Kenny Guiton came in finishing the drive for a touchdown.  But it did not stop there, as he went on to lead the Buckeyes to a solid 42-7 win over the Aztecs of San Diego State.
